An African proverb says: “If you give a man a fish, he will eat one day; if you teach him to fish, he will always eat''.
Undoubtedly, this proverb has the meaning of empowerment, namely: It is more profitable to teach a person to take care of himself than to continuously help him.
Since sustainable development is "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs", it is as essential that local communities understant, not only the guiding principles of sustainable development, but also the means to make a contribution to it in order to reconcile economic and social progress with the preservation of the environment.
